I love including listening assignments in my piano studio. I try to make each CD about 20 minutes and ask the student to listen to it twice during the week and report to me which song is their favorite and why. To stay legal I only make one copy of each CD and rotate them through the students (I have a lot of siblings which helps!).
Many students report that they had the CD in their car and the family really enjoyed it. Others said they really enjoyed listening while they got ready for school in the morning. A few families even requested a link to amazon.com so they could download and keep it!
Student favorites include: Piano Guys, Movie Themes, Carnival of the Animals (I only chose a few favorites), Peter and the Wolf, Jazz, and several different classical CD’s. Below are some amazon links to get you started!
Prokofiev: Peter and The Wolf/Carnival of the Animals
I did Peter and the Wolf for one CD and Carnival of the Animals as another CD. To keep the Carnival CD short I used 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 14

Hedwigs Theme (from Harry Potter Sorcer’s Stone)
Mission Impossible (Main theme)
He’s A Pirate (Pirates of the Caribbean)
